A Missouri woman’s quick action prevented a sexual assault on her daughter, leading to the arrest of the suspect. Marco Haro, 50, of Chesterfield, Missouri, is now in custody and facing multiple charges related to the incident, which occurred on a Sunday.
According to court documents, Haro is accused of statutory rape or attempted statutory rape, kidnapping, and armed criminal action. The arrest warrant details how Haro allegedly raped a girl under the age of 14 and then prevented her and her mother from leaving the Chesterfield home where the attack took place.
The wheels of justice began turning swiftly as Haro was charged the following Monday. The girl’s mother reportedly witnessed the attack and intervened to stop it, as stated in a probable cause statement. Specific details regarding the alleged crimes were initially limited, as a Chesterfield Police Department spokesman stated he could not comment further due to the ongoing investigation.

Further details revealed that when the girl, her mother, and grandmother attempted to leave the residence, Haro allegedly blocked the door with a knife, preventing their departure. Upon police arrival, the three were able to safely exit the home.
“I believe that the defendant, who is not a U.S. citizen, is at risk for not appearing in court because there has been an immigration detainer issued by the Department of Homeland Security,” police wrote in the probable cause statement.
Police records indicate that Haro has been deported twice previously. As a result, he is currently being held without bond. Authorities are also investigating whether Haro may be connected to other similar attacks.
