Tim Tebow’s Fiancée, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Mourns the Loss of Her Sister

Tim Tebow and his fiancée, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, experienced a profound loss with the sudden passing of Nel-Peters’ 13-year-old sister, Franje. Franje, who played a significant role in bringing the couple together through Tebow’s “Night to Shine,” an event celebrating people with special needs, passed away on Saturday after a lifelong battle with cerebellar agenesis, a rare condition where the cerebellum is underdeveloped or absent.

Nel-Peters shared her grief in an emotional Instagram post, writing, “My little Princess, Angel on Earth, biggest joy and baby sister, Franje, passed away earlier today.” She described Franje’s challenges, noting that she was born without a cerebellum, which severely limited her motor functions, affecting her ability to walk, talk, and develop typically.

Despite the immense sorrow, Nel-Peters expressed gratitude, stating, “Our hearts are aching beyond measure but I am grateful knowing she’s forever relieved of the pain she experienced on earth. She’s laughing, running and playing in heaven just like we always hoped she would on earth. She’s free! Thank you for all your prayers, love and support.” The 2017 Miss Universe, known for her humanitarian work, concluded her message in Afrikaans, her native language, which translates to: “Love you always my Sussa and someday we’ll be together again!”

Tebow also shared a photo of the three of them, offering his prayers and love to Nel-Peters’ parents. “Our loss but heavens gain,” Tebow wrote. “So grateful for the hope we have of being reunited with the ones we love through our Heavenly Father.” The New York Mets minor leaguer’s message reflects his strong faith during this difficult time.

The pageant community rallied around the former Miss South Africa, offering their condolences, as reported by Fox News. Former Miss USA Sarah Summers commented, “Love you dearly Dems. You’re full of grace even in the hardest times.” Iris Mittenaere and Pia Wurztbach, both former Miss Universe winners, also shared messages of support. The outpouring of love and support highlights the impact Franje had on those around her and the deep bond shared within the pageant community. This tragedy underscores the importance of family and the strength found in faith during times of grief. ”
