Our Days Are Numbered
“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12 ESV)
What does it truly mean to number our days? It’s about grasping the fleeting nature of life, a realization that often eludes us, especially in our younger years. It’s about understanding the brevity of life and making the most of the time we have.
So, how do we leverage this understanding to cultivate a heart of wisdom? Here are a few thoughts:
- Love others more. Extend grace, show compassion, and prioritize relationships. Invest in the lives of those around you. Consider how you can show gratitude decreases toxicity.
- Think of yourself less. This isn’t about self-deprecation, but about shifting your focus outward. It’s about serving others and recognizing that your life is part of something bigger than yourself. Consider serving protecting purpose.
- Trust godly wisdom more than human feelings and trends. Human emotions are fickle, and societal trends are constantly changing. Anchor yourself in the unchanging truth of God’s word. Seek spiritual healing.
- Seize the opportunities that God has placed before you. Don’t let fear or doubt hold you back from pursuing the path He has laid out for you. Step out in faith and embrace the challenges that come your way. Be courageous leaders.
- Be satisfied with the results after you’ve given your best effort. We can’t always control the outcome, but we can control our effort. Find peace in knowing that you did your best, regardless of the results. Strive for peace of mind.
- Renew your soul daily with biblical truth and prayer. Start each day with a fresh encounter with God. Immerse yourself in His word and seek His guidance through prayer. Consider are you too angry to pray.
Have a great day, whatever the number might be! May you live each day with purpose and intention. – Jim McNeff
