Peace Of Mind

I recently rediscovered a poem I wrote during a period of personal turmoil about fifteen years ago. Rereading it, I was struck by the fact that 11 out of the 15 elements mentioned were drawn from nature. This wasn’t a conscious decision, but I believe it reflects a deeper truth.

As Romans 1:20 states, “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” This verse speaks to the inherent connection between the natural world and a sense of peace and understanding.

From my artistic side, I hope you enjoy “Peace of Mind.”

PEACE OF MIND

A smooth body of water A child’s head on a pillow A low setting sun A large weeping willow These are some things that bring peace to mind

A hallelujah chorus A daily devotion A palm branch in the breeze A full moon o’er the ocean These are some things that bring peace to mind

A calm flowing river A waterfall fountain A rigorous climb An enormous mountain These are some things that bring peace to mind

Snowflakes on a branch White sand on the beach A soaring bald eagle Flying far out of reach These are some things that bring peace to mind

Peace of mind is what I seek Peace of mind to make me whole Peace of mind I will not find Until God’s peace is in my soul This is the thing that brings peace to mind
