In Township High School District 211 in Illinois, federal authorities mandated that a transgender student be granted unrestricted access to the girls’ locker room, even after accommodations were supposedly made to address the situation. This decision ignited a debate centered on terms like “identity,” “awareness,” “inclusion,” “gender reassignment,” and “hormone therapy.”

The core argument against this mandate, aside from religious objections based on natural law, rests on social constructs and practical realities. Critics argue that forcing girls to share a locker room with someone who, despite identifying as female, still possesses male anatomy, disregards the girls’ right to privacy and potentially causes emotional distress. The concern is that the biological reality of the individual, identified as “her” by supporters, will become unavoidably apparent, potentially leading to discomfort and anxiety among the female students.

Furthermore, the argument is made that a heterosexual male exhibiting similar behavior would face expulsion and potential arrest for indecent exposure. The question arises whether social politics are creating an exception to criminal statutes governing lewd behavior. The mandated “inclusion” of one individual, it is argued, imposes emotional strain on a large number of girls and their families.

The concept of “gender reassignment” and “hormone therapy” being celebrated as courageous is also questioned. The author poses a hypothetical scenario: if someone identifies as a lion, would they receive “hormone therapy” and be “included” in the lion’s den at the local zoo? The author suggests that “species reassignment” might be the next medical procedure sought by confused individuals, but emphasizes that such interventions cannot alter the fundamental nature of the animal kingdom. A lion, regardless of someone’s perceived identity, would still pose a threat to a human.
