Emotional Plea for Deputy Brad Sullivan After Critical Gunshot Wound

An emotional plea has been issued for Deputy Brad Sullivan, who is fighting for his life after sustaining a critical gunshot wound to the head. This marks the second time in three years that the deputy has been shot in the line of duty, highlighting the dangers law officers face daily.

Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren addressed her viewers, urging them to pray for Sullivan’s recovery. The deputy was shot while responding to a call earlier in September. Lahren stated on her show, “First & Final Thoughts,” that she wanted to focus on something more important than current political events, emphasizing the gravity of Sullivan’s situation. She concluded her plea with, “Deputy Sullivan, we love you, we appreciate you and we are thinking of you — keep fighting.”

According to WLBT, Deputy Sullivan, of Madison County, Mississippi, responded to a call on September 5th regarding a man who had been abducted and tied up inside a local home. Upon arrival, the suspect, Edgar Egbert, fled, leading officers on a chase before firing approximately 90 rounds, one of which struck Sullivan in the head. Lahren noted that Sullivan was still recovering from a 2016 gunshot wound sustained while apprehending a violent habitual offender during a traffic stop.

In 2016, Sullivan was honored by the Mississippi Center for Police & Sheriffs for his service and was recognized by local officials as a “top cop” and a “well-respected officer.” Beyond his professional life, Sullivan is also a little league baseball coach and a single father to a 9-year-old boy, as reported by FOX News.

The Jackson Police Department expressed their support via Twitter:

Our thoughts are with our extended family at the Madison Co Sheriff’s Office and our prayers with the deputies injured in yesterday’s ordeal. It is a true example of the dangers law officers face daily and the continued selfless sacrifice made by courageous people. #BlueStrong

Madison Co. Sheriff Randy Tucker released a statement echoing Lahren’s call for prayers, stating, “On behalf of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, thank you very much for your prayers, thoughts, emails and offers to help in any way possible…that is really what we can all do right now.”

Governor Phil Bryant also tweeted about the incident:

Sending prayers to the officers wounded in today’s shooting. Thank you Madison County Sheriffs Department, @MissDPS , MBI and first responders for their work and response to the shooting. — Phil Bryant (@PhilBryantMS) September 5, 2019

Sullivan is currently in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The community is encouraged to offer their prayers and support for his recovery.

The suspect, Edgar Egbert, is being held without bond and faces multiple charges, including six counts of attempted murder of law enforcement officers, one count of kidnapping, and one count of felony fleeing.

Lahren reiterated her support, saying, “Deputy Sullivan, We love you, we appreciate you and we are thinking about you. Keep fighting, you’ve got this,” and urged her audience to keep Brad Sullivan in their prayers.
