The Michigan State Police (MSP) have released a dramatic video capturing a recent vehicle pursuit on Interstate 94. The footage shows a driver’s desperate and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to evade troopers by jumping from his moving car. The incident nearly resulted in the driver being crushed by his own vehicle.
According to the MSP, a trooper initially initiated a traffic stop after observing the motorist speeding. However, instead of complying, the driver of the black Impala continued driving erratically, weaving in and out of traffic and drifting across lanes. Due to safety concerns, the trooper initially terminated the pursuit.
However, the driver later reappeared on the freeway, and the trooper re-engaged in the chase, according to Lt. Mike Shaw. Dashcam footage reveals the driver opening the car door and leaning out, seemingly attempting to abandon the vehicle while it was still in motion. The driver lost control, causing the car to veer up an embankment, cross all lanes of traffic, and crash into the center median. The driver then jumped from the car before it came to a complete stop, hopping over the median and running through oncoming traffic.

Lt. Shaw reported that the trooper followed the suspect and deployed a Taser to subdue him and make the arrest. Police stated that the man fled because he had outstanding warrants and wanted to avoid apprehension.
Following the incident, the MSP Metro Detroit posted on Twitter: “Lucky no one was hurt, and the bad guy went to jail.”
