Deputy arrested for having sex with a teenager
FOLSOM, Calif. – A Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Thursday in connection with having sex with a teenager, the Folsom Police Department said.
Shauna Bishop, 44, of Citrus Heights, turned herself in after investigators obtained an arrest warrant for her, police said.
The criminal investigation into Bishop’s conduct began in early May after police received reports of her having sexual contact with a minor, police said.
“After a thorough investigation, detectives found evidence that Bishop had intercourse with a 16-year-old victim,” police said in a news release.
Detectives said Bishop did not meet the teenager through her job and the alleged acts did not happen while she was on duty. Moreover, investigators do not believe there were other victims, reported KCRA.
After her arrest, Bishop was booked into Sacramento County Jail on charges of unlawful intercourse with a minor, oral copulation with a minor and molesting a child, police said. In total, she faces five counts of the listed crimes.
Bishop was released from jail later Thursday, according to online booking records, reported Sacramento Bee.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding told The Sacramento Bee in May that Bishop had been placed on paid administrative leave and that sheriff’s officials were in “complete cooperation” with the Folsom Police Department, the lead agency in the investigation.
Bishop is a 5-year veteran of SCSO, Deterding said.
